Stars of Tomorrow (SOT) is a talent show for 1st through 12th grade kids. It is designed to showcase the best of the best of school aged talent in an old-fashioned “amateur” talent show format in the greatest of traditions. There are three show class categories: Elementary, Middle and Senior High School. The show will be judged by experienced evaluators.
There will be between 5 – 7 performers in each show class. There is one winner selected for each class and one overall winner of the show. Winners can go on to our district finals to be held in April.
This is a chance for performers to display their talents before an appreciative community audience. For some, the talent displayed is the result of years of concentrated study, because the instrument or activity requires just such dedication in order to reach the level that is appealing to an audience. For others, the talent may appeal to an audience due to cleverness, showmanship, drama, and the like, perhaps without corresponding years of study. All types of talent have a place in our show!
Judging will be based on the following:
Presentation – Your recognition of the audience, dress/costume, stage presence, style, grace, poise and showmanship;
Talent and Technique – Quality of talent, complexity, artistic skill, level of technique, interpretation and expression
Selection – Appropriateness, staging, arrangement, timing
General Impression – Audience response
Talent performances Must consist of singing, dancing, instrumental (piano, violin, flute, etc) or skits. All talent acts will compete against each other for scholarship prizes.
Show Scholarships will be awarded to winners as follows:
$500 - Elementary
$750 - Middle School
$1,200 - Senior
One Best of Show Performer will be awarded $1,800!
ELIGIBILITY: THE STARS OF TOMORROW PROGRAM IS OPEN ONLY TO THOSE STUDENTS ATTENDING SCHOOLS THAT FEED INTO DOUGLAS COUNTY HIGH SCHOOL (DCHS) AND CASTLE VIEW HIGH SCHOOL (CVHS), INCLUDING HOME SCHOOLERS FEEDING INTO DCHS OR CVHS.
